Originally, I discovered these pretty water bottle designs at packaging UQAM. Since there wasn't much info available there, I did some investigating to find out who was behind the design. It turns out the company who designed Ô Water is called Axygene. They are based in Montreal, Canada. According to Guime who art-directed this project, Ô Water is not a retail product, but was produced for a stunt event for an event production company. The bottle is supposedly quite small, to mimic the effect of a test tube based on the idea of a 'specimen of purity'.

I think the bottle shape is special - no neck or curves at all, and has a nice, slender quality. The foil cap is another attractive detail that keeps this design looking fresh.

This house with stunning views is located right near to Tatapouri Point in New Zealand. Not only ocean but bay’s views too are presented in it. This house is situated right on the edge of the hill so all views are easy to access. It’s simple, single storey structure which won many New Zealand’s architecture awards. T-shaped plan with two wings characterize it. With such plan the house is very comfortable for the whole family living there. It also protects outdoor area from ocean winds without losing in openness and transparency. The outdoor area is not only interesting because it’s protected but also by its design. This beachfront house in South California is designed by Richard Meier and his partner Michael Palladino for art collectors. It fronts the Pacific Ocean to the south, a courtyard to the west, and the highway to the north. 4,280-square-foot modern house maximize every square inch of the site intelligently and like in many houses in this region the open space creates an exterior living room. The courtyard provides a visual link between the entry, the highway and the ocean beyond. The public areas open onto the courtyard. The living room has double-height ceiling and links the enclosed spaces with the deck and ocean via a full-height wall of glass and sliding doors. The private living areas are hidden on the east side of the entry. The (w)right House is four bedroom contemporary home designed by Charles Wright just moments from the beach in cosmopolitan Port Douglas. It has environmentally sustainable design with vaulted ceilings and the presence of water from every angle of the house. To cool the tropical air, the house has one store and enveloped by water. The structure is an innovative combination of concrete, steel and un-conventional core-filled clay brick masonry. A flowing metal structure shades the lap pool with salt water, and a wooden deck wraps around the house conjuring up the sense of being at sea. The roof cavity is double insulated and separately vented utilising venturi effect – eleiminating heat gain from roof penetration. The house has indoor and outdoor dining places with open plan kitchen and gas BBQ relatively. The living room has an LCD widescreen TV/DVD/CD, Cable TV, WiFi and surround sound entertainment system. Tropical climate is one of those factors which attracts people who want to have a house of their dreams. This house on Maui, Hawaii is one of those houses. It has great open plan where indoor areas are connected to outdoor areas as much as possible. Thanks to that it takes advantage of the sea breezes to naturally ventilate and cool the interior. The house is composed of five separate buildings, linked by broad covered ways and wrapped around an open courtyard. The pool in the courtyard and many small water canals make it possible to hear water flowing from any outdoor patio or terrace which could be found anywhere on the site. Even though the concept of open-plan living is quite typical for tropical houses this house definitely implements all its advantages. This project is one of those rare works when there is a need to design two houses on adjacent sites. The buildings are simple in form but different in plan and materials. Even though they looks like in harmony with each other they aren’t symmetrical. They both are about 500 square meters and have two stories. They have stretched form to create intimate courtyards filled up with light with canals filled up with flowing water. A rich variety of spaces exist within the buildings, ranging from double-height living areas open to the sea views, to more internalised lounges nestled into falling land at the more road end of the sites. Instead of the usual buzzed limited edition products, Adidas‘ relatively new line, SLVR (which uncannily resembles its popular avant-garde Y-3), had released a new Unlimited Edition tee. This updated number commenting on the culture of exclusivity and “limited edition” bears a bold type and has a loose silhouette. Its play on volume and shapes is very much like Y-3. The single cut neckline and flutter short sleeves paired with large graphics gives this tee a modern look. This is released as a part of the line’s Fall/Winter 09 collection and will be available at select retailers and Adidas SLVR boutiques.

Sony Ericsson is heading down an interesting path with their new Xperia design with the Android operating system. Could this be the new direction of cell phones? There is not too much information about this phone out there, so we will have to make assumptions. Such as the keypad. Will it slide out maybe? Whats that plastic/glass screen? "The collection of mass-market fragrances COMOTÚ, designed for Mercadona, was aimed to be a simple product, in harmony with its price, but with a surprising presentation. In order to achieve a good brand image and minimize the costs of production, only one bottle design was used for the eight different fragrances, four in black for men and four in white for women. The distinct fragrances can be differentiated thanks to the different colours of their tops.

The shape of the bottle is rounded and curved, and the packages show shiny and metallic colours.

The final design both of the bottle and its package has the gift to transmit high quality and modernity at a competitive price. It proves that a mass-market product with a good design can be very successful."

Pinch me I’m giddy. I love this new renovation in San Francisco b Natoma Architects. They’ve retained the unique look and feel only found in the city by the Bay but there are several modern touches that push this building into the future. The perforated metal facade is the most noticeable addition, providing shade and privacy. The interior is an minimal as it gets without going overtly stark.

Welcome to the future - where plants take us by surprise and seal our fates as the dear or dying species on this planet! Our only defense is the “Jaguar Mark XXI.” Designer Christopher Pollard has made this nature defense vehicle. It drives like a mother. Then when parked, the black panels activate. These panels are photovoltaic, lift from the car automatically, and face the sun, like the sunflower. Scary, right?

It’s totally science. Watch the video. You’ll see it.

The “living” panels signify “the synergy between the car’s energy replenishing function and the natural science from which it takes its inspiration.” The photovoltaic panels use solar power - a power you may have heard of - to power the car. This ultra modern futuristic apartment is designed by Romolo Stanco which took his inspiration from Kubrik’s masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. The comparatively small apartment contains a living area with an open kitchen and a bedroom with an adjoining bathroom. The living area occupies almost half of the flat. All built-in furnishing elements and surfaces are done in an extremely pure white lacquer. Walls remain untouched by any single piece of furniture and thanks to that and everything seems to flow in each other. Natural and artificial light make white look different from different angles. This house was designed to capture the spirit of Sydney’s Bondi Beach in a home which both beach house and urban style dwelling. The line of the wave is the underlying element which runs through the house. It forms an entry wing over the garage at the south and rises to give greater height to the living room at the north end. Kitchen, dining and living areas are combined and lead out to the garden. The centrepiece of the area is a built-in, cantilevered polished concrete workbench in the shape of a moulded seven. High windows run the length of one wall, while a low, glassed wall on the other side looks out on an elegant pool. Despite plenty of glass, the neighbouring houses are not visible. Because glass is everywhere in the house it isn’t surprise that the owner also owns glass supply business. [Tony Owen NDM]
